How can I start offering online gift cards?
Step one is to check with your POS provider. Many of your systems offer their own gift card features (e.g. Square, Toast, ShopKeep) and others integrate with specific third-party providers.
If your POS provider doesn’t offer gift cards or integrate with third-party providers, here are some additional ideas: GiftUp, GiftFly, Yiftee, Roller, or Kabbage.
My business doesn’t have a website, how can I create one?
Business websites are a great tool for marketing your business, staying in touch with customers, and selling products, services, and gift cards online. This can be a daunting task, but a simple website can go a long way.
You can create your own website using programs like Squarespace, WordPress, and Googlesites.

How can I encourage customers to buy gift cards?
People are looking for ways they can support their favorite businesses, so don’t be afraid to let them know that gift cards can help drive revenue to your business in real time. Reach out to your community on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and use your email list to get in touch with loyal customers.
Share on your business website and make gift card sales prominent on your homepage.
Ask your customers to consider buying a gift card equal to one month of spending, to help you weather this storm and keep paying staff, so you can continue offering great food/coffee/services/etc. for years to come.
Why a Gift Card Program Now?
The North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with regional business associations, created this site to help consumers easily access online gift cards from North Lake Tahoe businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s our hope that by providing this centralized resource, we’ll be able to mobilize loyal customers to provide much-needed support for their favorite places in North Lake Tahoe. Everyone can show their #TahoeLove!
How else can I support our local businesses beyond purchasing a gift card?
If you are a current resident of North Lake Tahoe, online shopping, food delivery and take out are great options! Businesses are being nimble and are altering their operations so check their website or social media for the latest info, or browse the North Lake Tahoe list of current business offerings HERE. And tip generously if you can (even for delivery/pickup), since employees are doing extra work and putting their health at risk.
If you’re out of the area, start daydreaming of how you’ll support North Lake Tahoe businesses when it’s safe to travel. You can also write positive online reviews for your favorite North Lake Tahoe businesses or share a memory on social media highlighting the businesses you’re excited to support in the future.
Why isn’t my favorite business showing up?
This is a site in progress. We are constantly working to add businesses to the list. Right now, the businesses that are listed are ones that have a gift card program in place. If your favorite business is missing, call them and let them know you’d like to buy a gift card. Show them your love and encourage them to start a program.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
Please contact the business you’re purchasing a gift card from directly. This site acts as a centralized location so you can easily access all North Lake Tahoe businesses offering gift cards. All gift cards are issued by the individual businesses and North Lake Tahoe Resort Association has no financial responsibility related to these gift cards. So, the most efficient way to have your questions answered is to contact the businesses directly.
