Tahoe Ski Resorts CLOSED as of Sunday, March 15th!
Tahoe Ski Resorts CLOSED! Ski resorts across the United States are closing down to help stop the spread of coronavirus and to help keep surrounding communities healthy and coronavirus free. This is including major ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area.
Vail Resorts and Alterra Mountain Company announced Saturday that whey will be closing 49 of their popular North America resorts. This includes the popular Lake Tahoe-area ski resorts Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley. Mammoth and Big Bear Mountain in California will also shut down after this weekend. The resorts will close starting Sunday, March 15th. The closures will be reassessed on March 22.

Ski Resort Closed Outside of California
- Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge Steamboat and Winter Park in Colorado
- Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley and Solitude in Utah
- Stowe Mountain, Stratton and Sugarbush in Vermont
- Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada
- Crystal Mountain in Washington
Other resorts that remain open are closing enclosed gondolas/ aerial trams while others are encouraging skiers to ride lifts with only people they know as they follow social distancing guidelines.
Nearly every resort is promising extra cleanings of public spaces, more hand sanitize stations and vowing to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

These closures follow on similarly unprecedented mass closures of cultural institutions, sports venues, nightclubs and bars, and many more parts of American society in the face of this rapidly spreading virus.
